Don’t be that person.
there are actually only 2 movie genres. the ones where u have to remain completely silent throughout the whole film, and the ones where u have to comment on whatevers happening on screen every 5 minutes
@thelibraryiscool is correct
We have to keep reblogging this so future historians will read it and puzzle endlessly over its meaning
The heavy implication that historical ‘abstract’ poetry that people have been analysing for ages without being able to conclude the meaning could have just been shitpost level in-jokes between poets is sending me.
I think ive said it before but you really gotta feel bad for oedipus that wanting to fuck your mother got named after him. He really did not want to do that . It is central to oedipus rex how badly he didnt want to do that. Dick move by freud
‘Autistics always love talking to other autistics, it’s always effortless for autistics to communicate with eachother’ stop!
telling!
lies!
Autistics are, basically, min-maxed relative to allistics. That means we do often get along with eachother EXTREMELY well and quickly, like, to an extent that wouldn’t make sense to allistics- but it ALSO means that when we don’t get along, that’s fucking it. We’re magnets. We either attract or repel, and fucking Nothing will change how we react to eachother after that
Two incompatible autistics are like two male betta fish in a teacup. Peace Was Never An Option
Any autist saying ‘that’s not true’ 100% guarantee hasn’t spent enough time with a variety of other autistics lmao

penises are soft, excerpt from fucking trans women #0 by mira bellwether
[image description: two screenshots from collage-style zine pages.
the first page has a box of text next to a labeled diagram of a cross-section of a penis and scrotum. text reads as follows:
#3: Penises are soft. I can’t say this enough because it is such an important and frequently ignored fact: most of the time a biological penis is neither rock-hard nor an inflexible rod. They’re not supposed to be. The natural, resting state of the penis is soft. Unsolicited erections happen relatively infrequently after the teen years and voluntary boners appear in the dictionary under the entry “diminishing returns.” most penises could never compete with a good dildo on hardness. And those that go the distance are putting themselves at long-term risk: erections that last longer than an hour or so without interruption can cause permanent damage to the vascular system of the penis. We know both statistically and anecdotally that penises are far from permanently-engorged crotch-rocks, and yet almost all sexual discourse on penises is on erect penises, hard penises, penetrating penises.
the second page is all text. the text reads as follows:
Why is this significant? Because the operating assumption in our culture is that only hard penises can have sex, that soft penises can’t have sex and aren’t sexy. This is deeply, deeply incorrect.
The major difference between a soft penis and a hard penis isn’t whether it can have sex, not whether it can give and receive pleasure, only whether it is hard and can penetrate. That’s it. That’s the difference. Hardness. And yet there is almost no writing about sex and soft penises except about how to “fix” them by making them hard. It’s hard, so to speak, for us to seriously consider the concept of sex with a soft penis because we’ve been indoctrinated to laugh at the idea. Penises are supposed to be hard, penetrating organs, and definitely not sexy when soft. It’s not very fashionable to talk about phallocentrism these days, but I can’t think of a better word for the assumption that someone’s private parts are useless because they’re not hard and, well, phallic.
To put it simply, this is stupid. It’s stupid to keep acting like penises are worthless when they are soft, whether that softness lasts a day or six years. We are smarter than that, and it is time to start acting like it. We owe it to the penises in our communities to start playing with them and pleasuring them when they’re soft. I think it’s a particularly good idea to do this because soft penises are a lot of fun that we’re not having, for no good reason.
Contrary to popular belief, a soft penis is not a “Do Not Disturb” sign. Neither is it an accurate indicator of someone’s interest, mood, energy level, or libido. Boners are fickle. Sometimes it’s not in the cards. Then again, sometimes a boner just happens and the only thing on your mind is how much you don’t feel like having one. Your lover-with-a-penis could be counting the seconds until they can get you alone and do filthy, unspeakable things to you and their penis might not so much as twitch. If your lover is a trans woman, there’s a rock-solid chance that this happens all the time. There’s an equally good chance that it never happens at all. For some of us on testosterone blockers no force in the world could summon an erection. For others there’s an impact, and for some there’s almost no change whatsoever.
Regardless of how often you have one on your hands, a soft penis doesn’t need to be anything other than an opportunity to find out what else it can do besides fill up with blood and poke things.

I also just keep thinking back on that animorphs quote about ruthlessness. Like I’d seen it online before and always loved it and it’d always just been attributed to ka Applegate without any surrounding context, so I had always assumed that it had come from some interview or something where she was discussing the series as a whole. But to see it in its original context and understand that the “bright clear line” is a tween boy figuring out how to get his own mom killed is so brutal. I think it’s even more meaningful with it’s context. That really is ruthless
The quote in question:
PSA:
Acetaminophen/paracetamol has a hard stop upper dose limit, above which it becomes extremely toxic.
That limit is 4g (8 “extra strength” (500mg) tablets) in 24 hours (about 2 tablets every 6 hours).
A single dose of 22 extra strength tablets can kill you.
Taking 12 or more tablets per day for more than a week can also kill you (this is about 3 tablets every 6 hours).
Symptoms of overdose take up to 24 hours to manifest, and are fairly difficult to distinguish from other problems. They include abdominal pain (especially right upper quadrant), nausea, malaise, and confusion.
The antidote (n-acetylcystine) must be given within 8hours of ingestion in order to be useful.
After 10 hours the only thing that will work is a liver transplant.
You might think “why would I ever accidentally take so much?”
Well, acetaminophen is in almost everything in the cold/flu/pain aisle. Migraine combos like Excedrin, cold and flu combos like NyQuil, basically anything that says “non-aspirin pain relief”, and anything that’s branded as a fever reducer. It’s all probably acetaminophen/paracetamol.
So the goal of this post is to get you to read the labels on your medications. Because taking taking Tylenol and NyQuil together for a week (like you might if you had the flu) could kill you.
I listened to some science podcast a while back all about how ridiculously dangerous acetaminophen is and how it should never have been approved. So in case you hadn’t heard.
The other thing about acetaminophen/ paracetamol you have to watch out for is that the dosages per pill vary wildly. I’ve seen as low as 250mg and as high as 1000mg per pill. That’s bonkers to me, given that it goes from “very safe” to “very deadly” with such a small margin of error. You really need to check the label carefully when you get a new bottle. If you’re used to the consistency of NSAID dosing, this might be something that wouldn’t even register as a concern.
I just want to voice- acetaminophen is not “ridiculously dangerous.” It’s actually really safe and effective. Problems arise when people aren’t following the label and aren’t thinking about dosage.
Extra strength excedrin has 250mg per cap.
Dayquil severe has 325 MG per cap.
Tylenol extra strength has 500mg per cap.
If you took 2 of each of these all at once, you’d be at 1400mg. You could do that twice in one day and still not hit that 4g mark. You would have to do that 3 times in a 24 hour period to be at risk, and getting NAC within 8 hours would still save you.
Now, please understand- high levels for days upon days can build up, and people who are very sick may not be reading medicine labels carefully. It’s important to know what the limits are and to check what is in medication. If you have chronic pain, you may need a different management plan completely.
But pain relief is a blessing. Learn to use it safely so that you can use it when you need it.
Also! Remember that it is totally safe to mix acetaminophen and ibuprofen. Different mechanisms. So if your dayquil/excedrin/etc isn’t cutting it, supplement with ibuprofen! (OR aspirin OR naproxen. But don’t mix those last three with each other.)
Paracetamol can actually be dangerous at the approved doses as well, especially if used long term. And even at the approved doses and recommendations (not taking it for more than X days etc.) it’s still linked with increased risks for liver and kidney damage. And with all that said it also just isn’t effective pain relief, it basically performs at placebo levels. If you have other options use those instead of anything with paracetamol (tho I am well aware that isn’t possible for everyone, for example pregnant people).
So, I want to acknowledge that my experience with OTC pain meds is predominately in managing my chronic migraines, so people who are using these medications for different reasons may have different milage here.
Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen, and caffeine together is considered the recommended first line treatment for migraine and tension headaches and is more effective than any one of those alone or a placebo. If taken early enough, this combo can knock a potential migraine out without the need for my much more expensive prescription meds.
Acetaminophen by itself isn’t generally the best at any form of pain relief (basically only good for minor headaches), BUT, it is fantastic when PAIRED with an NSAID. By pairing them together, you can often take a LOWER dose of both for the same or even greater effect. It is most effective for short term pain, and it primarily works by impacting how your brain perceives pain, giving your body time to work on the problem pain-free. (As opposed to NSAIDS, which attack the site of pain directly but can cause more side effects as a result.) (Fun fact, this also means that taking Acetaminophen also temporarily reduces feelings of empathy and existential dread, since it basically just dials down ALL ‘pain’ input, including emotional pain.)
There is absolutely a balance in using OTC pain meds in a way that is safe and effective VS using them in a way that is ineffective or potentially harmful AND vs causing yourself unneeded suffering and pain because of fear. And the trick to achieving that balance is education and knowledge.

- Interzone. Sub-pro rates if anything (but highly respected). 10k max. Short cover letter. Science-fiction and fantasy.
Whenever I see a post like this, I feel like I have to tell people about the Submission Grinder. I just did a search on it and it came up with 135 markets that pay for fantasy short stories. You can search by genre, pay rate, length of story they accept, etc, and it’s constantly being updated, which a post like this can’t be, and you can also use it to keep track of what you’ve sent where and when, and since a lot of people use it for this purpose it’s got a lot of good data about response times and so on. If you are trying to sell fiction or poetry on the regular, it is such a useful tool and I encourage everyone to use it.
